Hampshire Mall finds itself in the heart of a 5-college region in Western Massachusetts. Headlined by UMass Amherst, the flagship institution in the state system, these schools drive the economy of the area and create a stable economic base which allows the region to thrive. Education is such a pivotal portion of the development of the Pioneer Valley that the Hartford-Springfield region has been termed the "knowledge corridor," with the highest concentration of professional workers in the United States.

However, education is far from the only reason that people visit Western Massachusetts. Tourists have flocked for years to experience the colonial charm of the region and take advantage of the various outdoor opportunities available, including superior ski resorts, championship golf courses, hiking, hunting, and water sports. Also, the Pioneer Valley is full of terrific historical sites and art museums catering to all sorts of interests, and there are always world-class shows to be seen at some of the various performing arts venues clustered throughout the region. Other nearby attractions include the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Six Flags New England, and the Springfield Falcons hockey team. The famous Mohegan Sun Casino is also an easy drive away.

Whatever your passion, the Pioneer Valley is sure to offer you an experience you will never forget.
